FirstClass Download Gauge ©1994 Gil Burns This set of resources can be pasted into a settings file, or can be pasted into the FirstClass® Client. To install, copy the DITL, DLOG, and PICT resources, and paste them into your FirstClass Client, or settings file. This is email-ware, if you like and use these resources, please drop me an email telling me how much you like them, and that you are using them. What it does, is places a table at the bottom of the save dialog box that appears whenever you save an attached file from any message. The table has 4 speeds: 2400 bps, 9600 bps, 14400 bps, and 28800 bps. Find the speed that you are connected at, and follow the table across until you see a file size that is closest to the size of the file that you are downloading. This is the approximate time it will take you to download that file. Many things can effect the speed at which you download a file. Because FirstClass® Client allows you to do other things while you download files, opening other messages, opening conferences, etc… these will all effect the speed at which your file downloads happens. Also the table does not take into account for modem data compression, and error correction, so your times might be higher because of that.
